On Saturday, February 3, 2001, Summit Heights Royal Ambassadors experienced the 4th Annual South Carolina Shootout at RA Day activities held at Anderson College in Anderson, South Carolina. It was a positive first time experience for four of our younger Royal Ambassadors (LADs--Missions Education Club for boys K-3 grade).  The event had something for all . . . including middle & high schoolers!

Chance P. and Caleb A. were our 1st Grade LADs and Hunter M. and Tate B. were our 2nd grade LADs!  After event registration, the boys were divided up into their respective age groups for the skills sessions. Our age grouping was headed up by Steven, one of the members of Anderson College JV Basketball Team. Techniques for dribbling and passing the basketball were demonstrated and practiced. The boys also began the trials for the free throw shooting competition. None of our boys made the finals, but each one got to take their shots for the first time at this event and several went in! Mom's, Dad's . . . if you could have been a 'fly on the wall' . . .Yeah!!!! Fun!!! All Right!! Great Shots!

After the trials were completed, we headed over to the Chapel and were led in praise and worship by the Anderson College BSU (Baptist Student Union). We sang several songs, heard testimonies and were even surprised to see some pretty neat tricks from our own Greg Allgood, a faculty member at Anderson College. Hunter M. was the fortunate recipient of a 't-shirt throw' out into the crowd!  Ask Hunter about the special scripture verse on his t-shirt when you see him!  After hearing a challenge from the AC Basketball Team Chaplain and JV Assistant Coach, we closed with prayer and headed over to Abney Athletic Center for the BIG Games and a great Hot Dog Supper!

Both Lady Trojans and Men's teams were victorious in their games against St. Andrews College from North Carolina. Halftime of the Mens game included the finals for the free throw competition and 3 on 3 competition. Special thanks to Summit Heights RA Director Bob B. & parent/leader Tyson M. who kept up with the boys at this event. That might seem easy, but with 146 other boys (plus a bunch of RA Counselors) from around the state it was at times a challenge!  Already anticipating the event next year!
